The British won the Gold Medal at this year's World Championship for Young Roofers. Winners Andrew Currie from Peebleshire and Christian Skuse from Bristol worked tirelessly during the three-day competition, using Burlington's blue/grey roofing slate for the project. Burlington also supplied each team with identical kits, including 30 linear feet of 15-, 14-, 13-, 12-, 11- and 10-inch by random-width roofing slates. Edward Cowan, chief executive of the National Federation of Roofing Contractors, commented that the "random-width slating part of the competition proved to be the highlight that determined which was the most successful team." After the competition, the two men were presented with their medals at a gala dinner hosted by the International Federation of Roofing Contractors Millennium Congress and the NFRC. As part of their prize, Currie and Skuse will now take their skills abroad on work placement.
