The facade of the half-acre memorial, located two blocks from Ground Zero, features 4,000 linear feet of imported Irish limestone. Some 16,000 square feet of limestone was used for paving. More than 330,000 pounds of imported fieldstone was also used to create walls and a cottage. It took 47 shipping containers to bring the stones from County Mayo in Ireland to Manhattan. Much of the work was done by Irish Natural Stone Products of Boston, MA.
