Entries are now being accepted for Prism, The International Natural Stone Design Competition, which celebrates the creative use of natural stone in design and architecture. The competition is sponsored by Coverings as a means of seeking out and rewarding innovation and excellence in the use of natural stone for both residential and commercial usage.

Entry is open to qualified professionals involved in the distribution, specification, manufacturing, retailing, installation or design of natural stone projects. Submissions must include a typed narrative description of the project detailing the challenges presented by the project, the design innovations that were incorporated into the work, the project's goals and how they were achieved. All projects must be accompanied by professional quality photography in either 8- x10-inch color prints or 35-mm color slide format. The deadline for inclusion in the 2003 competition is December 16, 2002.

Now in its fourth year, the competition draws entries from around the world. The competition awards a Grand Prize of $10,000. In addition, cash prizes of $2,500 each are made for First Prize winners in both Residential and Commercial Categories, and there are also $1,500 Award of Merit winners in each category. Winning entries are extensively promoted in the U.S. and worldwide in stone trade, architecture, design and shelter publications.

The awards ceremony for the prestigious competition takes place at the 2003 edition of Coverings, in Orlando, FL, which is set for March 24 to 27. Entries are judged by representatives from professional interior design, architecture and trade associations. Entries are judged on the basis of outstanding creativity, originality and the ability to meet the technical and functional requirements of the project.
