Laticrete announces promotions

BETHANY, CT - Laticrete International, Inc., a worldwide manufacturer of innovative systems for the installation of stone and ceramic tile, has promoted Nick Macrino to Architectural Group Manager. In his new position, Macrino will manage the Laticrete Architectural Group, reporting directly to the sales manager, North America, while overseeing the senior architectural specialists. Macrino will implement the goals of Laticrete to secure specifications on high-profile projects on a national basis plus interact with design professionals, architects and specification writers to secure proprietary specifications on both commercial and residential projects.

Macrino has been with Laticrete for two years, during which time he has successfully educated the architectural and design community on the benefits of the Laticrete System, securing and delivering proprietary project specifications.

Macrino has 26 years of professional sales and management experience in the ceramic tile industry, including direct sales to distributors, large commercial tile contractors, dealers and branch management.

Laticrete has also promoted Walt Stivers to the position of regional sales manager for the Indiana region. In his new role, Stivers will manage Laticrete sales efforts in Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, North and South Dakota, Ohio, western Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. Stivers will focus on expanding distribution points and market share for Laticrete, while working with his staff to help launch three new innovative products this year through contractor specific training and education.

Stivers joined Laticrete in 2005 as a technical sales representative in the Kansas City/St. Louis market and since that time has proven to be dedicated, determined and successful. Prior to joining the company, Stivers had worked as a manufacturer’s representative in the cement and concrete business since 1997.

Stivers graduated from Iowa State University and also served as LTjg. in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Fort McHenry.

Surfaces 2013 preview

Surfaces 2013 -- to be held in conjunction with StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas -- is slated for January 29 to 31 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV. The show, which also includes an extensive educational program that will be held from January 28 to 31, provides a place for thousands of floor covering retailers, distributors, installers, architects, designers and builders from around the world to gather and view the latest products, get vital education, network with other floor covering professionals and conduct business.

More than 600 of the largest manufacturers and suppliers representing products in every major category, including carpet, tile, hardwood, rugs, laminate, resilient and stone, are expected to exhibit at the trade show. Hanley Wood, owner and operator of the exhibition, reports that they have many new exhibiting companies and returning ones who have expanded their booth size. Additionally, Surfaces 2013 will host more than 40 workshops, seminars and mini sessions led by industry experts in the fields of business, sales, marketing, installation and design. Attendees can earn AIA, NKBA, AIBD, IICRC and AIA/CES industry designation. Here is just a small sampling of some of the displays that will be present at Surfaces 2013.
