Focusing on the export market

Tec Tear Granitos Ltda. operates a stoneworking factory in Atilio Vivacqua, Espírito Santo, Brazil, and it exports material to locations around the world.


When Tec Tear Granitos Ltda. was established in Atilio Vivacqua, Espírito Santo, Brazil, the main goal was to provide stoneworking services for companies across the country that were involved in the stone sector. Today, the company processes and exports stone to markets around the world, and its production capacity continues to increase.

Tec Tear’s principal owners are José Carlos Marques Netto and Anna Olivia Rangel Ribeiro Marques, and the company was founded in 1996. In 2003, management made the decision to stop providing services and to begin exporting material to the U.S. Over the next few years, the company developed relationships with a number of customers in the U.S., and it also began exporting to Canada, Spain, Puerto Rico and South Africa. In 2006, the company made its first appearance at the Coverings exhibition in Orlando, FL, and it has continued its particiaption at Coverings in 2007 and 2008.

Exports at Tec Tear Granitos have increased steadily over the past few years, and the company hopes to export 25 containers per month for 2008.

Industrial operations

Exports at Tec Tear Granitos have increased steadily over the past few years. Last year, exports totaled 20 containers per month, and the company expects that total to grow to 25 containers per month for 2008. Moreover, the projected export total for 2009 is 30 containers per month.

Equipment in the factory includes a BM Grizzly Super gangsaw, which is 4.2 meters in width. Other machinery includes two Cimef automated polishing lines, one Rosh industrial drier for resin treatment of slabs and other various equipment for processing, material handling and resin application.

In the quarrying sector, Tec Tear Granitos maintains a strong partnership with several quarries, so it can assure timely delivery of materials. Materials offered by the company include Bianco Antico, Black Falcon, Black Marinace, Crema Bordeaux, Green Ocean, Juparana Bronze, Lápidus Gold, Mogno Bordeaux, Red Dragon, Solarius, Splendour, Yellow River, Sucury Brown, Key West Gold, Santa Cecilia and New Venetian Gold.

It also has an exclusive for two materials - Crema Nouveau and Magma Bordeaux.

In the U.S., Tec Tear Granitos is represented by Jamille Viana in the Eastern region and by Luciana Cortelleti in the Western region.

Surfaces 2013 preview

Surfaces 2013 -- to be held in conjunction with StonExpo/Marmomacc Americas -- is slated for January 29 to 31 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV. The show, which also includes an extensive educational program that will be held from January 28 to 31, provides a place for thousands of floor covering retailers, distributors, installers, architects, designers and builders from around the world to gather and view the latest products, get vital education, network with other floor covering professionals and conduct business.

More than 600 of the largest manufacturers and suppliers representing products in every major category, including carpet, tile, hardwood, rugs, laminate, resilient and stone, are expected to exhibit at the trade show. Hanley Wood, owner and operator of the exhibition, reports that they have many new exhibiting companies and returning ones who have expanded their booth size. Additionally, Surfaces 2013 will host more than 40 workshops, seminars and mini sessions led by industry experts in the fields of business, sales, marketing, installation and design. Attendees can earn AIA, NKBA, AIBD, IICRC and AIA/CES industry designation. Here is just a small sampling of some of the displays that will be present at Surfaces 2013.
