While the COVID-19 pandemic has shut down the in-person stone industry fabrication events, the first virtual workshop was held – and more to follow – as an effort to continue to provide education to fabricators
Since March 2020, the COVID-19 global pandemic has changed the way people are interacting and running their businesses worldwide. Everything from providing a safe work environment for employees to how to handle customer visits to industry education had to be reconsidered.
The Natural Stone Institute and Stone World magazine have announced the schedule for the 2018 Stone Industry Education Series. In 2018, Stone Summits will be held in 10 cities across the U.S.
The Stone Fabricator’s Alliance (SFA) holds several workshops annually, hosted by member companies. These workshops are free of charge to SFA members in good standing, and they are designed to provide a wealth of knowledge and learning opportunity for the industry.
Despite all of the information out there on shop safety, we are still hearing about way too many accidents - often fatal accidents. My question is this: How are your businesses addressing the issue of safety in the workplace? How formalized is your safety program? Do you hold regular safety meetings? Have you changed or expanded your approach to workplace safety in the past few years?
