The citizenM Bowery, located in New York City, is the world’s tallest hotel, showcasing Absolute Black granite and Carrara marble throughout its interior spaces
Based on the concept of affordable luxury for the people, the citizenM Bowery opened its U.S. flagship location, a 13th member of the hotel chain’s family, within the culturally rich and vibrant Bowery area of downtown Manhattan. Designed by Stephen B. Jacobs Group Architects and Planners, the citizenM Bowery is the world’s tallest modular hotel — standing 19 stories high and exceeding 100,000 square feet. The citizenM Bowery was originally designed as a conventional poured-in-place concrete building, but the hotel chain later decided to redesign the building using more efficient modular construction for the 15 typical guest room floors. The modules were stacked during a six-month period from November 2016 to May 2017.
The company citizenM is a Dutch hotel group that opened its first hotel at Schiphol Airport in 2008, followed by Amsterdam City in 2009 and citizenM Glasgow in 2010. The development of more hotels in Boston, Paris, Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles are currently in progress.
