While shop safety has always been important, in recent years, it seems that it has become a top priority among fabricators and other industry members. It is a prevalent issue that is always among the topics discussed in the Fabricator Forums I attend. It is reassuring to know that industry members take safety seriously, and are taking the appropriate measures to maintain a safe work environment.
When it comes to safety, education is a key component. The Marble Institute of America (MIA) promotes safety best practices in a number of ways, and it makes these resources available to the industry — whether a member or non-member of the association. These include Toolbox talks, DVDs, printed brochures, safety sessions held at local MIA chapters and seminars at trade shows.
