Hanley Wood Exhibitions releases results of recycling initiative at 2014 International Surface Event
DALLAS, TX -- Hanley Wood Exhibitions has announced the results of its recycling initiative at The International Surface Event (TISE), which was held from January 27 to 30, 2014 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV. A total of 75 participating exhibitors donated over 100,000 pounds of gently used floorcovering, stone and tile product to charitable partners, coordinated by the Mountain Re-Source Center and its subsidiary, Tile Partners for Humanity. In addition, the joint initiative, which included support from Freeman Companies, United Services and Mandalay Bay Convention Center, was successful in recycling 540,000 pounds of commodity material. Officials from Mandalay Bay Convention Center provided a comprehensive post-show report confirming that as a result of the effort, 80% of the total waste generated from the show was recycled. Recycled materials included cardboard, carpet, carpet pads, concrete, metal, aluminum, paper, plastics, wood crates and pallets.
"As a leading organizer of trade shows in the U.S., we are very proud to lead this initiative," said Dana Teague, Vice President of Hanley Wood Exhibitions. "The social responsibility that many of our exhibiting companies and partners are displaying will make a positive impact that is immeasurable. We feel a responsibility to bring light to the many ways recycling efforts can be implemented in business models year-round."
