For the new Worker’s Compensation Fund building in Sandy, UT, Think Architecture of Salt Lake City chose granite to achieve its goals of functionality and stability
To improve safety and security for its staff, The Worker’s Compensation Fund, located in Sandy, UT, needed to build completely new headquarters. To design the new facility, the organization enlisted the help of Think Architecture. The overall design goal was to create a highly functional, aesthetically pleasing and above all, extremely safe structure. This was accomplished using African Red granite from South Africa as well as Giallo Vitória granite from Brazil.
“Due to the nature of their work, WCF cannot afford to ‘go down’ during an emergency such as an earthquake,” explained architect Kenney Nichols of Think Architecture. “Based on this requirement, the building was designed with a high importance factor, such as you would normally see in a hospital or fire station.”
