With the continued popularity of natural stone for residential applications, manufacturers of stoneworking equipment have continually developed new technology for fabricators. And while some of this equipment effectively replicates labor-intensive tasks, other machinery represents a completely new route in stoneworking. One example of this can be found in the laser etching equipment that was on display at the recent StonExpo exhibition in Kansas City, MO.
Using Computer Numerically Controlled technology, machines such as the Laser Master from Cam Tech produce high-resolution images on virtually any stone. And given the intricacy of the work involved, these machines work at a surprisingly quick rate of 25 to 90 minutes per square foot.
