The fifth Veronafiere-AIA Continuing Education Course on “The Use of Marble and Stone Materials in Modern Architecture†was described by John Stephenson (TVS Architects, Atlanta, GA) as “the best continuing education course I have ever attended.†The course was held during Marmomacc 2003, International Exhibition of Marble, Stone and Technology. Veronafiere, Videomarmoteca and Stone World magazine were co-sponsors of the course, which provided up to 18 learning units for AIA architects.
During an intensive four-day program (September 30 to October 4, 2003), a total of 14 U.S. AIA architects visited a marble quarry and stone-processing facilities, studied the use of stone in important buildings such as Benetton's headquarters in Treviso, Italy, enjoyed guided architectural tours of Verona and Venice, and spent more than a day at Marmomacc.
