Newsline ... NEW SALES TEAM AT THE GEORGIA MARBLE CO

The Georgia Marble Co. recently appointed five individuals to its sales department. The new team includes Randy Stertmeyer, Jim Pounds, Elisabeth Webb, Bill Harris and Barry Avery.

According to David King of Georgia Marble, the individuals bring fresh attitudes and strong work ethic to the company. "We're very excited about the new sales team," he said. "Each person has much to offer Georgia Marble."

Randy Stertmeyer, with more than 30 years of experience in construction-related sales and marketing, is joining the Georgia Marble Structural Division as Midwest regional sales manager out of Cincinnati, OH. His new responsibilities include obtaining architectural specifications, overseeing Georgia Marble sales representatives and acquiring new business for the company.

Jim Pounds took his 26 years of experience in the national stone industry and 13 years previously in the Georgia Marble Structural Division to the Southeast. He is now the Southeast regional sales manager for the Dimension Stone Group. Pounds oversees architectural specifications, works with Georgia Marble sales representatives and recruits new business through contractors, distributors and installation contractors.

Elisabeth Webb is taking on the position as Northeast regional sales manager. Her new sales manager duties make her responsible for memorial and structural business developments in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Maine and Quebec. Previously, Webb spent five years as a national account manager for Associated Imports Corp. in Atlanta and four years as the general manager of Stone Connection Inc., before joining Georgia Marble.

William "Bill" Harris joined the company's Structural and Memorial Division as the West Coast regional sales manager for the Dimension Stone Group. He has more than 20 years of sales experience with various companies. Four years ago, Harris accepted the sales director position of Vomar Products for architectural signage. Now at Georgia Marble, he will work with sales representatives, acquire new business and obtain architectural specifications.

Also welcomed in the company's Structural and Memorial Division, Barry Avery will act as the Southwest regional sales manager for the Dimension Stone Group. Avery, a third-generation granite industry employee, came to Georgia Marble with eight years of experience in the granite industry. In 1999, he reached a memorial sales milestone selling $1 million, according to Georgia Marble. By recently joining the company's sales team, Avery is continuing a family Georgia Marble tradition starting with his grandfather in the late 19th century.
