Massive column project is on the market

Granitos Gomez Caceres, S.L. of Quintana De La Serena, Badajoz, Spain, recently quarried and fabricated 50 intricately carved solid granite columns. These pieces, originally planned to be part of a park in Madrid, Spain, are now being offered for sale on the open market.

Quarried and fabricated by Granitos Gomez Caceres, S.L. of Quintana De La Serena, Badajoz, Spain, a major architectural project - originally planned to be part of a park in Madrid, Spain - is being offered for sale to anyone looking to purchase 50 intricately carved solid granite columns.

The project, which was created in Gray Quintana granite from Spain, was in the works for several years, according to Antonio Gómez, export manager of Granitos Gomez Caceres. The columns are 12 meters long (nearly 40 feet), and they are all solid, single pieces. Because of this, the process for creating the columns actually began in the quarry, as the proper pieces needed to be selected and extracted from the site.

In all, the project required:
• 50 granite columns, each
weighing 24,000 kilograms
(52,800 pounds)

• 50 granite bases, each of which is 4 meters tall (approximately 13 feet)
• 50 Corinthian granite capitals, each of which is 1.5 meters tall (approximately 5 feet)

“All the pieces were made by our granite sculptors in our factory in Spain,” explained Gómez. “This project would have been placed in Madrid in a large park, but for various reasons, it is not going to be installed at this time. For this reason, we have thought about selling the complete project - in America or any other continent that is interested in installing this magnificent project.”
