CUMAR Marble and Granite, with support from Over My Shoulder Foundation, will be one of the sponsors of the 25th annual Boston Society of Architects (BSA) KidsBuild!, taking place on April 8-9 at the BSA Space at 290 Congress Street, Boston. The event, developed by the BSA and funded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC), creates learning opportunities for children through the design and build environment.

KidsBuild! is a hands-on, interactive learning experience that has been broadening children’s understanding of the world since 1992. Guided by professional architects, over 700 children will build a city in the lobby of Atlantic Wharf home. Families will choose a construction site from a fictional city grid, design and build a building out of recycled materials, and be awarded a certificate of occupancy from the city building inspectors. Geared for children age 5 -13, KidsBuild! allows children to understand and formulate ideas about architecture and design as they build a city from the ground up. The city will remain in place in the lobby of Atlantic Wharf to be enjoyed by the public for one week.

“We’re looking forward to being involved with such a wonderful event like KidsBuild!,” says Carlotta Cubi, executive vice president of CUMAR. “CUMAR is a huge supporter of the Over My Shoulder Foundation, a charity that raises awareness about the impact of mentoring through design and arts. This event fits perfectly into their mission and allows us to continue our quest to support the younger generation of future designers.”
