**Kaleidoscope Project**

When you peep into a kaleidoscope, you see something appealing that on turning the device is destroyed only to be created once again with a different pattern. Life is more or less like a kaleidoscope, and we all have to make an effort to support beauty even though it changes continually. At times, things fall to pieces but can always be put back together to create a new beauty.

**Ping Pong Pang**

*Stone:* Agglomerato di quarzo

A “playful” use of natural stone to make a ping pong table. It is a clear reference to Turandot, one of the most popular operas.

**Primavera**

*Stone Supplier:* Franchi Umberto Marmi

*Designer:* Angelo Micheli

*Stone:* Bianco Carrara marble

This vase in Carrara white marble is the work of designer Angelo Micheli.

Tradition and innovation come together around the macro subject.

**Stone Air**

*Stone:* Pietra della Lessinia

Stone Air expresses the historical and traditional values of this material, a natural stone that has interpreted form and color for centuries — and does so through the use of a solid slab (exclusively with the Lessinia panorama) honed on the seat and as-split in the quarry for the part above the backrest.

**Sinuosa**

*Stone:* Granito Duke White

The chaise lounge in Duke White granite is very appealing thanks to its comfort, ergonomic shape and extremely elegant, sinuous outlines ideal for indoor and outdoor relaxation areas, spas, pools and gardens.

PERISCOPE — **Periscope**

*Stone:* Blocchi di marmo Arabescato Corchia

The juxtaposition between the marble and the mirror-finish surface highlights the contrast between material and intangible; between strong, heavy, “mono-lithic” (“one+stone”) and the cancellation of what lies beyond its surface (“multi-plication”).

Not merely a work of art to look at, but one through which observers can watch and see a “different” reality. The space appears to be straight and continual, yet it is shrunk and interrupted, and we find before our very eyes what the eyes cannot see.

**Psiche**

*Stone:* Marmo Nero Marquina

“Psiche,” a work in Cervaiole Marble by sculptor Giovanni Maria Manganelli, is defined by the artist himself “a thinking muse.” It is a sculpture that prompts people to think and meditate in times when we have little time for thinking.

**Luoghi Minimi**

*Stones:* Travertino Bianco S.Caterina, Pietra Grigio Imperiale and Travertino Imperiale (sculpture)

“Luoghi Minimi” plays on the visual contrast between the static mass of the blocks comprising two different materials and the dynamics of the sculptural elements inserted in the space between them. “Luoghi Minimi” are the mental, abstract places where we live, at times in the midst of everyday life, a claustrophobic need seeking its own living space.

**Tavolo International Award Architecture in Stone**

*Designer:* Vincenzo Pavan

*Stone:* Pietra di Prun

The International Award of Architecture in Stone Round Table — 14th edition: presented in the Exhibition Centre during the 50th Marmomacc.

Inspired by the stratigraphy of Prun Stone, this unique material is exploited to reveal its tactile and chromatic qualities as they appear during the quarrying process.

Prun Stone is split into slabs like a book in which the geological history of the Veronese mountains has been written.

Marmomacc & The City is an exhibition of sculptures and installations en plein air organized by VeronaFiere in collaboration with the Verona Order of Architects and Verona City Council. Curated by architect Laura De Stefano, it demonstrates how it is possible to achieve quality levels by combining the skills and specific characters of the various institutions involved.

The main objective of the event — now in its fourth edition — is to highlight the lively and pulsing involvement of Marmomacc in the fabric of the city by focusing on the beauty and multi-faceted variety of the stone materials used.

Marmomacc & The City also presents unusual and less well-known stone materials to the public and reveals the scope of high-tech processing to achieve astonishing results, thereby also giving materials boasting ancient traditions a contemporary slant. The following projects were on display throughout Verona during the month of October.
