LARVIK, NORWAY — Granite producer Lundhs of Norway is investing in some of the most modern technology in the marketplace. Wimmer has developed a drilling rig equipped to use seven drills for splitting and trimming of granite rough blocks. This is the first time Wimmer has developed a drilling rig with such a capacity. The machine, which can be operated by a single person, replaces two of the units previously in use at the quarries, while allowing for increased production. The investment by the company is part of a continuous effort to be a frontrunner in the use and development of new production equipment for stone quarrying. “We have increased production by 14%, looking to invest even more in the future,” said John P. Gunderson of Lundhs. “We are not just adding technology and people, but working in the right way for the long term.”
