Former MIA President, Migliore Award for Lifetime Achievement recipient and stone industry icon, Malcolm Cohen, passed away at his home on August 2, 2013. Cohen began working in the stone industry upon graduation from Yale University, following in his father’s footsteps. Cohen’s companies, Domestic Marble and Miller Druck Specialty Consulting, both based in New York City, have been involved in projects such as The White House, Grand Central Station, the Statue of Liberty and Canary Wharf in England.

Cohen was always willing to give generously of his time to the stone industry, serving as president of five different stone associations. In his Migliore Award nomination, his family noted, “On a smaller scale, he headed up an office with employees that he treated like family. He shared his knowledge and expertise with everyone. How does one summarize a lifetime of work?  Malcolm loved the stone business.”

Malcolm Cohen made the natural stone industry a better place and will be sorely missed.
