The Building Stone Institute (BSI) has announced the call for entries for the Tucker Design Awards. Sponsored by BSI, the Tucker Design Awards are recognized as one of the most prestigious architectural design awards. Presented biennially, the awards honor those who have achieved excellence in design through the incorporation and innovative use of natural stone in their building or landscape project.

The 2014 Tucker Design Awards and Bybee Prize presentation will be held at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Unity Temple in Oak Park, IL, on Wednesday June 25, 2014. This daytime event will begin with a late morning awards presentation followed by a celebratory luncheon. Transportation from downtown Chicago will be provided.

Optional Tucker Design Award event activities include a networking tour of BSI member, Lurvey Landscape Supply in Volo, IL, on the afternoon of Tuesday, June 24. Transportation from downtown Chicago is provided. A river boat architectural tour following the awards ceremony is planned for Wednesday afternoon, and a “Meet the Winners” reception will be held on the floor of the AIA National Convention and Expo at Chicago’s McCormick Center, on Thursday afternoon, June 26.

Esteemed jurors for the 2014 program will include Blair Kamin, Architecture Critic for the Chicago Tribune; Duncan G. Stroik, Principal, Duncan G. Stroik Architect, LLC in South Bend, IN; and Peter Lindsay Schaudt, FASLA, FAAR, Partner, Hoerr Schaudt Landscape Architects in Chicago, IL.

The entry deadline is August 16, 2013. Submission binders will be due on October 4, 2013, with the jury session planned for October 25, 2013.
