ATLANTA, GA -- Displays juxtaposing tile and stone with unexpected materials such as laurel leaves and corrugated boxes, and the punch of vivid oranges and greens, distinguished the four Coverings 2013 Best Booth award winners. Judges handed out the awards on the third day of the four-day show, which was held in Atlanta for the first time this year. Cooperativa Ceramica d'Imola took Overall Best in Show, while Verve, Togama and Mirage also took home Best Booth awards.

Through exterior walls of white pottery and laurel leaves, Cooperativa Ceramica d'Imola told the story of a rich history from its origin as a pottery cooperative in 1874 to earning its Green Squared® Certification this March. The inviting booth entrance felt like walking along a garden path of tile and gravel into an outdoor room with tiled benches and seats of laurel leaves further inside.

Each of the three cooperative brands -- Imola, Leonardo and Lafaenza -- had a display with its own personality and iPads telling their story. Imola showcased products in packing crates accessorized with lifestyle hints of vintage sports equipment, bikes and a guitar. Leonardo employed waist-high wood pillars as a centerpiece with surrounding tile displays that felt like pieces in an art gallery. Lafaenza was a bright, light spot of white with a display wall interspersing whimsical white pottery pieces with products.

Living up to its energetic name, the bright orange Verve booth was designed to visually link the display to the factory with wood beams, industrial lighting, sand representing the raw materials of tile and metal tracks evoking kilns. A neon Verge Energy sign drove the message home.

Togama, exhibiting for the first time, won for a small but eye-catching booth comprised of one undulating wall of vivid, multi-toned green mosaics imprinted with tropical greenery. A full color palette of mosaics was displayed to the left of the wall, while literature was tucked into the curves of the wall.

Mirage's booth looked like a wonderful corrugated box had magically unfolded in the middle of the show, with a corrugated counter displaying products and a clear plastic box showing the layers of how tile is installed over gravel. Recycled, sustainable materials throughout conveyed an environmentally responsible message.
