After developing a signature flooring design, C. Wonder turned toImagine Tileof New York, NY, to bring that design to life in their boutiques. The main design goal was to create a color and pattern that would match the fixtures, in addition to C. Wonder’s current logo and existing colors in the store. “The designers gave Imagine Tile a layout showing the signature floor pattern they were trying to create, along with a Benjamin Moore paint color [Rosemary Green] as the target color,” said Christian McAuley, President of Imagine Tile. “We went to work and produced a set of full-size sample tiles for approval.”

To perfect the boutiques, Imagine Tile and C. Wonder worked together to create two custom green and white tiles that alternate to create the unique C. Wonder interior. “Both the designers and the customer were very involved, in particular, to the color,” said McAuley. “We produced about 20 different color options for them, and they chose the shade that best coordinated with other items in the store design, including the entrance doors and cabinetry.”

While the project was a resounding success, it was not without its challenges. “Both the color matching and timeframe [were difficult],” McAuley explained.  “The customer was particular about the shade and tone of the color. We were also up against a timeframe, as this product was added in as a substitute to a concrete tile, and we had an existing construction schedule that we had to supply product in conjunction with.”

The projects began in August 2011, and the first store was installed in October of that year. The tile that Imagine Tile and C. Wonder were able to develop together is currently installed in three store locations: The Westchester in White Plains, NY; Garden State Plaza in Paramus, NJ; and Roosevelt Field Mall in Garden City, NY — with approximately 1,000 square feet of ceramic tile per location. Additionally, C. Wonder has four new stores opening in the summer/fall of 2012, and Imagine Tile Inc. will be featured in those as well.
