Sandvik collaborates with Volvo on machinery demonstrations

ESKILSTUNA, SWEDEN -- Sandvik Mining and Construction, in partnership with Volvo Construction Equipment Region Europe, will be hosting a series of machinery demonstrations and customer events in Eskilstuna, Sweden, from October 4 to 7. The purpose of these events is to demonstrate the synergies of the equipment available from the two companies, and to highlight the advantages customers may enjoy from the mutually compatible product lines. Additionally, Sandvik will also be launching some exciting new products, including two new breakers.

The aim of the "Rock to Road" customer event is essentially for Sandvik to demonstrate the equipment that can effectively work alongside Volvo CE excavators, wheeled loaders, articulated haulers and road building equipment to offer a productive and efficient solution for the quarrying and road building industries. As a result, the event aims to provide customers with a "total solutions package" that transcends the one company, with a focus on the needs of customers in the aggregates and road building segments, according to Sandvik. From a customer perspective this joint approach represents enhanced value and greater benefit, as well as a mature approach to dealing with their specific requirements. The reason for this approach is that customers want, and need, solutions that are not bound by the extent of one company's product offering.

The Sandvik equipment to be displayed has been split into two distinct offerings: "Rock to Road" and "Demolition to Road." This is in order to demonstrate Sandvik's capabilities and speciality in these specific sub segments that are in line with customers' own requirements. The Sandvik equipment being shown includes:

Rock to Road line

  • DC302 drill rig
  • DX780 drill rig
  • UJ440E tracked jaw crusher
  • UH640 tracked cone crusher
  • QA450 tracked triple deck screener
  • QE440 tracked scalping screener
  • BR4099 breaker

Demolition to Road line

  • BC2019 multiprocessor
  • BR2577 breaker
  • BR2155 breaker
  • BG2010 sort bucket
  • QI240 tracked impact crusher

The Sandvik range of equipment for the road building industry now enables customers to process materials from the very beginning of its usable life to the very end -- and beyond, reports the company. Materials can be crushed and sized to produce the highest quality of aggregates for primary construction; and when the materials life cycle is finished the Sandvik range of demolition and recycling equipment will allow for the same materials to be re-used and recycled starting the process again so that the circle of use is complete.

State-of-the-art machinery from the Sandvik product range will not be the only highlights for customers at Rock to Road, as Sandvik's recent aftermarket developments will be given due emphasis. Customers will be presented with opportunities to discuss their parts and service requirements at first hand, as well being able to learn just how Sandvik can provide that little more value added benefit.

Although this joint marketing activity will not affect Sandvik Mining and Construction strategic focus, the joint display with Volvo CE does highlight Sandvik's integrated customer approach -- allowing for a fuller concentration on specific industry segments and showing Sandvik's commitment to provide customers with the best possible solutions, reports the company.
