Located only 30 miles from its supply of natural quartz resources, Belenco Quartz Surfaces has established a brand new 160,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art factory for quartz surfacing using the latest Bretonstone technology from Breton of Italy.

Belenco Quartz Surfaces strives to provide the largest slab format possible using biological products. Belenco is striving to cater to a discerning market. It is working to produce the largest slab format possible, and the factory has an annual capacity of nearly 6.46 million square feet of material in all sizes and designs.

“Our promise is to deliver the naturally strong energy of quartz to all our stakeholders,” explained Berk Kuter, CEO of Belenco. “We are in business with a mission to create strong alliances with all handlers. All of this is realized in accordance with Belenco’s principal values, which include steady growth via continued investment in human capital, an everlasting pursuit of perfection in product development, true fulfillment of social responsibilities and a strong commitment to environmental awareness. All of this makes Belenco a premier choice for distributors, designers, fabricators and users of quartz surfaces throughout the world.”

With its sophisticated laboratories, R&D facilities and strong product development focus, Belenco’s main goal is to cater to the needs of the discerning customer. Belenco combines natural fine quartz with high technology and innovative designs. Products are composed of 93% natural quartz aggregates and advanced polymers, making it extraordinarily hard and resilient as well as resistant to staining, chipping and cracking, Belenco reports. Belenco quartz surfaces also have a non-porous surface that increases overall hygiene and is easy to clean.

“For the moment, we want quality in production and quality in service,” Kuter explained. “We have a good team in place. It is a new company, but the people have strong experience. I have been in the business for 16 years. We established our Research and Development Department in late 2010 in conjunction with a local university in Turkey. Our goal was to create a green product at an acceptable cost. Service is also very important. We are looking for good distributors, and to be ‘local’ in all markets. We want our distributors to be our partners.”

The company is establishing markets in Turkey as well as Germany and other parts of Europe. It also developed a client base in the U.S. and South America. “The U.S. remains the most popular market for this product, and the market size is expanding,” Kuter said.

With an eye on the market’s needs and demands, Belenco collaborates with prominent universities and scientific and technological research institutes around the world. It has also invested more than $50 million in technology.

“At Belenco, we understand that manufacturing a luxury product requires using a high-end process, so we have invested enormously in our facility’s technology to ensure innovative industry-leading products created according to specific requirements of designers and architects,” said Hande Peker Kuyumcu, a Board Member of Belenco, “Belenco Surfaces are extraordinarily durable, high technology quartz surfaces, designed to enhance all kinds of living spaces with innovative color combinations and texture varieties. At our production facilities, natural qualities of quartz minerals blend together in harmony with Belenco’s unique techniques to create masterpiece surfaces. We let all designers and architects take part in creating tailor-made, boutique quartz surfaces of their own inspiration for more personalized living designs.”

According to the company, Belenco operates on “three-essentials-in-one” philosophy, focusing on quality, design and technology.

Creating “Jumbo Slabs”

Thanks to its state-of-the-art technology, Belenco is able to manufacture larger slab dimensions, which enables the quartz surface consumers to design their final applications with fewer joints, resulting in truly continuous smooth surfaces.

In addition to the standard slab sizes of 120 x 55 inches (305 x 140 cm), the modern production line enables Belenco to efficiently produce slabs with dimensions of 130 x 65 inches (330 x 165 cm).

Belenco quartz surfacing is available in 40 different colors, including marble-look slabs where the appearance carries throughout the entire slab -- not just on the surface.

To protect material during shipment, the surface of  the material is covered with protective film to protect it from scratches or other damage.

The company is also producing floor tiles, and it has an automated tile line from Breton in place for this production. Tiles are available in formats as large as 48 x 48 inches (120 x 120 cm).

The company is also prepared to supply large-scale projects, such as airports, shopping malls and hotels.

In all, 100 people are working in the Belenco quartz plant. “Our goal for the first year is to be able to invest in a second line,” Kuter said. “The building construction is already in place, and we want to be able to process over 1 million square meters [10.76 million square feet] per year.”

As a member of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), Belenco has set a goal to create eco-friendly products in environmentally friendly production units. The company focuses on 100% bio-based products, with its R&D unit working on eco-friendly manufacturing approaches. It has developed an ergonomically designed working environment, and it operates within a “green” building facility.

In terms of marketing, Belenco’s publicity campaign started in June of this year in major international industry publications, and it will continue at fairs and exhibitions around the world. Belenco quartz surfaces will be available this fall through qualified distributors and retailers around the world.
