Silver Waves quarry adds to extensive product line

Constantly striving hard to offer new exotic colors, Pokarna Limited has gone operational with its Silver Waves quarry in South India. This new shade offers ainbody unique material with random wavy movement of contrasting white and black.

The quarry has been in operation for nearly one year, and it has the capacity to yield approximately 5,000 cubic meters annually. Spread across an area of 30 acres, the Silver Waves site is in an historic location, as it is situated in Eshwarapuram Village, Puttur Mandal, Chittoor District. This is near Tirupathi, which is well-known as home of world’s most-visited pilgrimage center — the Lord Venkateswara Temple.

Stone at the Silver Waves quarry is extracted using the diamond wire-sawing method, and equipment includes a Tata Hitachi Excavator and a Chicago Pneumatic 450 HP compressor, along with the wire saws.

A total of 200 cubic meters are extracted from the quarry per month, and this figure can be scaled up to 1,000 cubic meters per month — depending on demand. Most of this production is large-sized blocks, and it is well-suited for the U.S. and European markets. The estimated material reserve of the quarry shows an operational life of at least 20 years.

In addition to utilizing high-end technology, Pokarna also relies on its quarrying expertise to ensure that the Silver Waves quarry production is of the highest quality.inbody

“The beauty of Silver Waves stone depends upon the direction of extraction,” stated the company. “In the initial stages, we faced the challenge of finding the correct extraction direction. But with our vast experience in quarry operations and scientific information, we overcame the problem and found the cutting direction which is now giving us blocks with the best possible pattern.”
