Northeast Slate Inc., a natural slate distribution company, finalized its 100% share purchase of Hilltop Slate, Inc., one of the region’s largest slate producers. The two companies will consolidate as Hilltop Slate while celebrating their 60th year of business.

In just over two years, Dan Boone, who was born and raised in Granville, NY, founded Northeast Slate, Inc., which became a leading distributor of natural slate roofing from the renowned “Slate Valley” of Vermont and New York.

Established in 1948, Hilltop Slate is a quarrier and producer of natural slate from Vermont and New York for roofing and architectural applications around the world.

“The acquisition of Hilltop Slate adds increased production direct from the source, which will further benefit our customers in service, quality and expertise,” Boone said.

“The Slate Valley is fragmented, whereas this acquisition provides consolidation which will improve product availability for our customers. This is a positive move for Hilltop Slate and the market,” added David Thomas, President of Hilltop Slate.
