With 49 employees and 11 trucks on the road, Stone Crazy Inc. Marble and Granite Works of Orlando, FL, is one of the fastest growing stone fabricators in its region. And to ensure personalized service, the company has a rule that one of three managing partners must always be present at the jobsite. “It is truly one of the things that allow us to keep the quality of our service at its highest level,” explained Jake Lechtner, one of the partners. “We can never forget the customer; they come first. We plan each job with them from the beginning - from stone selection to cut and polish and final assembly.”

Given the company's size and growth, solid coordination is critical to Stone Crazy's success. “We have a great deal happening at the same time. Our day starts with a complete network of the day's activities, including scheduling, jobsite visitation duties, inventories, training and facilities management and control,” Lechtner said. “When you have 49 employees and 11 trucks on the road, one can imagine the type of planning and scheduling that is constantly going on. We have 42,000 square feet of office on 2 acres - including showrooms, stone yard and fabricating facilities and over 250 different types of marble and granite in our fully stocked yards.”

Stone Crazy's stoneworking plant fabricates a broad range of products. “Our customized fabrication facilities routinely cut and polish slabs for countertops, vanities, fireplace surrounds, furniture and custom-cut flooring and walls,” Lechtner said. “We specialize in custom work, and our craftsmen have been trained to keep a special eye for that certain touch that will set our jobs from all the rest. We cover the entire central area of the state of Florida. From coast to coast, our business mix is approximately 85% residential and 15% commercial. We work primarily with builders, designers and affiliated construction industry contacts.”

Equipment in the shop includes four Matrix Sebring gantry saws from Matrix Stone Products of Rancho Cucamonga, CA. “With all of that activity, we count heavily on our production and fabrication departments. One learns early in this business that the type of equipment must be reliable and dependable - for a breakdown could virtually put us out of business.”
