The prevailing Las Vegas motif was highly influential for NBBJ's design of a Cutter & Buck retail outlet within the city. Although the firm had created the original design concept for the fast-growing U.S. manufacturer of golf-inspired sportswear and outerwear, it sought a new approach to the Las Vegas location, which was within the ritzy Aladdin Hotel and Casino.

"The Las Vegas store is a little bit different than the other stores," said Project Designer Tanya Hagiwara Green of NBBJ. "We did a little more. We tried to adapt the concept to fit in with the 'India Gate' theme of the casino complex."

For the floor, 12- x 12-inch tiles of Amarillo travertine were employed. Complementing the travertine was a thick stone mosaic border comprised of Giallo and Nero marble - with pieces being slightly less than 1/2 inch in size. This palette differed from the prototype store, where two shades of travertine were used rather than mosaics, said Hagiwara Green, who explained that the material choices and uses were part of the overall theme of the Las Vegas store.

"This was a very special store because of its location," said the designer. "We had a bigger budget and were able to use stone mosaics as well as glass mosaics at the storefront. The 1/2-inch Ann Sacks Alex glass tiles were employed as part of the storefront signage above the entry." Completing the look of the entry is a cobblestone walkway, which is part of the mall finish, according to Hagiwara Green.
