GranQuartz announced the hiring of Dave Burrill for its Mid-Atlantic sales territory, which includes Delaware, Maryland, Washington, DC, and New Jersey. Burrill has over 15 years of sales experience in contractor related products, including abrasives and stains. GranQuartz also announced that Rob Tait will cover Oklahoma in addition to Nebraska, Missouri, Iowa and Kansas, and Randy Brock will now assume responsibility for Alabama in addition to Louisiana, Mississippi and Arkansas.

In other happenings at GranQuartz, the company announced the grand prize winner of the Makita sweepstakes at StonExpo 2003 in Atlanta, GA, where the contestant received a Suzuki QuadSport 4-Wheeler. Makita and GranQuartz management awarded the prize to Hal Snow of A Granite Co. in Denver, CO, and his son.

Laticrete International recently appointed Michael Morrissey as the firm's Director of Product Development. Morrissey, previously the Director of Global Product Management with Stanley Tools, brings to Laticrete extensive Product Development and Global Product management experience as well as in-depth construction industry experience regarding strategic and tactical product marketing. Morrissey completed his undergraduate work at the University of New Haven. He received his MBA from the Rensselaer Polytechnical Institute. Morrissey has been actively involved in the launch of over 150 new products in his career - both in the U.S. and internationally - and has managed a range of product line turnarounds.

Milestone Imports, a Santa Fe, NM-based importer and exclusive distributor for Mexican porphyry, has appointed Alex Leeson as Marketing and Business Manager. His immediate focus is to expand distribution of porphyry throughout North America. Leeson was formerly a Product Manager for CCH Corsearch in New York City and prior to that, he was marketing and business manager for Garage Manufacturing, an action sports company. He brings over 14 years of sales, marketing and management experience to Milestone Imports, which is poised for rapid growth over the next three years, the company reports.
