For about two years now, some of the more optimistic fabricators out there have expressed hope that this deep recession will be some sort of "cleansing" of the granite industry. The feeling is that there are certain individuals/companies who only started cutting granite to make a fast buck -- with zero regard for quality or customer service -- and this business formula cannot possibly work in a down economy when jobs are scarce, so the "hacks" will be out of the picture.
