Quartz surfacing in today's marketplace
by Michael Reis, Editor
The other day, I was driving through the downtown area of a New York City suburb, and I was intrigued to see a kitchen and bath showroom advertising not only granite and marble countertops, but also specific quartz surfacing products -- Silestone and CaesarStone. Now, I wasn't surprised to see that the showroom carries these materials, since quartz surfacing has been making deep inroads in the countertop business for some time now. It was interesting, however, to see these trade names being advertised directly to the general public. It just goes to show how much of an impact quartz surfacing has had in the minds of consumers over the past few years. Click here to read more

Since its humble beginnings in 1929, the School of Cinematic Arts at the University of Southern California (USC) has expanded into one of the world's leading schools of cinema, television and interactive media -- with alumni such as Hollywood film director George Lucas of Star Wars and Indiana Jones acclaim. And due to its impressive stature and continual growth, the program rightfully deserved a new complex on campus that would house all of its components. With skillful planning by the Urban Design Group of Dallas, TX, a design was conceived that exhibited contemporary traits while also staying true to the university's existing California style of architecture that
has been prevalent on campus for 80 years. Full article
