Neka Inc., Dulles, VA

With a background in construction, Nevzat Kansu decided to use his experience and know-how to open Neka, Inc., a large-scale stone fabrication business, in Dulles, VA, in 1989. And to aid the company in reaching the level of success that it reaps today, Kansu has equipped the 60,000-square-foot shop with an assortment of top-of-the-line machinery over the past 20 years, including three Bavelloni Egar CNC stoneworking centers.

Fabricators discuss issues at Coverings 2009

Each year at Coverings, stone fabricators from around the country gather in a open "Fabricator Forum," where they are invited to share their questions and experiences with a panel of industry experts. This year's forum took place on the final day of Coverings, April 24, in Chicago, IL, and while attendance was down from previous forums, there was no shortage of topics to be discussed during the two-hour session.

Although we may wish to avoid this conclusion, it is obvious that our economy is experiencing a serious downturn. As companies' job-jars have become less full, they are tightening their belts and working more efficiently in order to maximize profits. As production schedules become less intense, many smart companies are also taking care of housekeeping that may have gone by the wayside during busier times.
