Aqua Mix/Custom Building Products of Seal Beach, CA — a manufacturer of stone and tile care products — and the Marble Institute of America (MIA) have teamed up once more to translate the pop-ular MIA Safety Meetings Toolkit into Spanish. This successful partnership previously produced three safety videos and “Safety in the Stone Business” tech module — all in Spanish.

“We are pleased to continue our relationship with the MIA in making vital training programs available in Spanish to a rapidly growing segment of the population,” said Rod Sigman, Division Technical Director of Aqua Mix/Custom Building Products. “We’ve had great acceptance of the programs already offered in Spanish. This confirms that these programs are filling an important niche in the industry’s training efforts.”

“We are delighted to have the continued support of Aqua Mix/Custom Building Products to broaden the educational opportunities for the entire stone industry,” said Jim Hogan, MIA’s president for 2008. “This toolkit not only includes 65 safety meeting outlines, but comes packaged with three MIA safety videos and our technical module, ‘Safety in the Stone Business,’ all in Spanish.”

The Spanish version is a direct translation of the original, and it maintains the agenda format with suggested talking points for the presenter and recap questions to help stimulate discussion.

The kit includes outlines on OSHA, personal protection equipment, electrical safety, hazard communications, respiratory protection, equipment operation procedures, slab handling, compressed air safety and a number of general safety issues.
